For more than 20 years, it has been my passion to show travellers the real Peru – not only its ruins and museums, but everyday life as it is lived today. Our journeys are designed to be enjoyable and meaningful, which is why I still review them personally.

I’m Andre. I studied in Peru, lived there, and founded Viventura in 2001. For me, Peru is not just a destination, it is a part of my life.

The best time to travel to Peru

Travel seasons are a matter of personal preference – everyone has their favourite month. Some prefer dry, sunny weather, while others enjoy lush green landscapes or quieter periods with fewer visitors. The ideal time for your Peru journey depends on what you are looking for. Here are our personal recommendations:

Andre (Viventura’s founder) loves March: the coast is pleasantly warm, and with a bit of luck the water creates mirror-like reflections on the Salar de Uyuni. Nights in the Andes are noticeably milder too – worth the occasional rain shower. And, of course, it means escaping the European winter.

Damian (Brand Director) prefers May: fewer tourists, a calmer atmosphere and generally dry, stable weather make it his favourite month. Just after the rainy season, the landscapes are still beautifully green, and in the highlands the nights have not yet turned too cold.

Simeon (our Peru specialist) swears by November: still dry, no longer icy in the Andes, and thanks to the shoulder season often with better prices.
