From the majestic peaks of the Andes to the lush rainforests of the Amazon, from untouched Caribbean beaches to vibrant, multicultural and colonial cities such as Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena. Colombia is a country of remarkable contrasts, offering endless opportunities for adventure, discovery, relaxation and enjoyment, all within a small and friendly group.

You will also explore Colombia’s renowned coffee region, where you can taste some of the finest coffee in the world. And for lovers of gemstones, Colombia is a treasure in itself – it is one of the world’s most important exporters of shimmering emeralds!

Our Colombia Tours

Good to know

Colombia is a country rich in history and natural treasures. Long before colonial times, Indigenous civilisations flourished here, and their legacy is still visible today. You can hike to the legendary Ciudad Perdida (the Lost City) or admire the more than 5,000-year-old statues of San Agustín. Equally unforgettable is Tayrona National Park, where dense jungle meets turquoise sea – an ideal setting for a scenic walk or a peaceful moment in one of its hidden bays.

Steinskulptur bei San Agustin

Long before the Spanish arrived, Colombia was home to numerous ancient civilisations.

The remarkable Ciudad Perdida, built between the 11th and 14th centuries, is one of the oldest cities in South America – even older than Machu Picchu.

In San Agustín, you can admire more than 500 impressive life-sized stone sculptures. Some are more than 5,000 years old, yet their exact origins and meaning remain a mystery to this day.

Nuqui

Colombia offers some of the most thrilling outdoor adventures for those who love a dose of adrenaline.

From white-water rafting to jungle and mountain hikes, and from snorkelling to diving at world-famous coral reefs, there is no shortage of unforgettable experiences.

A particular highlight: off the Pacific coast, you can even observe whales in their natural habitat.

We also think of travellers seeking a more relaxed journey through Colombia. Perhaps a few restorative days in the coffee region, surrounded by gentle hills and peaceful valleys? Or maybe you prefer the cultural charm and lively atmosphere of Colombia’s cities – such as Cartagena, Bogotá or Medellín.

If you’ve been dreaming of an organised tour of Colombia, our South America specialists are here to help. We’ll work with you to plan your perfect holiday in this remarkable country.

Colombia’s extraordinary diversity makes it one of South America’s most remarkable travel destinations. Nowhere else can you experience so much on a single journey: lush jungle landscapes, vibrant cities, idyllic beaches, warm and welcoming people, the soaring Andes and unique cultural treasures such as the coffee region and pre-Columbian heritage sites.

Our Colombia specialists know the country inside out, so let us help you create your ideal experience with a small-group tour through this unforgettable land.

Traveller insights

Carlota Soto

South America is a place full of surprises, emotions, nature, and incredibly kind people. We were able to experience all of this and we owe it to our tour leader Charlotta that this trip became such a special experience. The programme was full, but you do not fly to South America to relax, you go to experience something, and Viventura achieved that with the programme they offered and gave us wonderful variety. We would do it again anytime, and again with our Charlotta. (Barbara K. - Sept. '25)

You can discover all of these destinations on our Colombia’s Diverse Highlights journey.

Bogota

Bogotá: Colombia’s lively capital is the cultural heart of the country. The historic district of La Candelaria is especially worth exploring, with its colonial charm and atmospheric streets. For a taste of modern Bogotá, head to the Zona Rosa, known for its elegant boutiques, excellent restaurants and vibrant nightlife.

A real highlight is Monserrate, where you can enjoy breathtaking views across the entire city. And of course, no visit would be complete without the renowned Gold Museum, home to extraordinary pre-Columbian treasures.

villa de leyva

Villa de Leyva is one of Colombia’s most beautiful colonial towns, with cobbled streets, whitewashed houses and the impressive Plaza Mayor – one of the largest squares in Latin America.

Surrounded by a picturesque mountain landscape, it is an ideal destination for anyone with an interest in history, culture and nature. You can explore its fascinating museums, such as the Casa del Caballero de la Realidad, or head out on a walk through the surrounding area to discover striking scenery and even prehistoric fossils.

A timeless place that invites both relaxation and gentle exploration.

Désert de la tatacoa

Southern Colombia captivates with striking landscapes and remarkable cultural treasures. In San Agustín, you can explore the largest collection of pre-Columbian statues in the Americas – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fascinating testament to a long-lost civilisation.

Not far away lies the Tatacoa Desert, a landscape of vivid red canyons and unusual rock formations. It is especially enchanting at sunrise, when the first light turns the sky warm shades of orange and red, casting a golden glow across the rocks.

A truly captivating region where history and nature come together in a unique and unforgettable way.

Valle de Cocora

The Coffee Region: This UNESCO World Heritage area delights with its endless coffee plantations, green valleys and majestic mountains. The charming village of Salento enchants visitors with its colourful architecture and relaxed atmosphere.

A particular highlight is the Cocora Valley, famed for its towering wax palms – the tallest in the world. It is the perfect place to enjoy Colombia’s natural beauty and immerse yourself in its rich coffee-growing heritage.

Comuna 13

Medellín, known as the “City of Eternal Spring” thanks to its pleasant climate, is a true model of transformation and innovation. Explore the vibrant neighbourhood of Comuna 13, now a symbol of artistic renewal, or unwind in green spaces such as the botanical garden. The Metrocable offers spectacular views across the city, while the Museum of Antioquia celebrates the work of renowned artist Fernando Botero.

A dynamic city that blends modernity, culture and genuine warmth.

Cartagena

Cartagena de Indias is a true gem on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, where history, culture and tropical charm come together. Its historic centre, surrounded by imposing city walls, is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its cobbled streets lined with colourful colonial houses and flower-filled balconies, visit lively squares and discover iconic landmarks such as the Castillo San Felipe.

The city also has a wonderfully festive atmosphere, with vibrant nightlife and superb local cuisine to enjoy in its elegant restaurants.

Tayrona

The Caribbean Coast offers palm-lined beaches, turquoise water and pristine natural surroundings. Tayrona National Park, with its lush rainforest and secluded bays, is a true treasure. It is also the starting point for discovering the mythical Ciudad Perdida, hidden deep in the Sierra Nevada, or for experiencing the cultural richness of cities such as Cartagena, whose historic centre is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To not be missed

Relaxation in Tayrona National Park: Discover idyllic beaches and lush rainforest along the Caribbean coast. Tayrona National Park is the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Stroll through Cartagena: Wander the cobbled streets of Cartagena, one of South America’s most beautiful colonial cities. Colourful houses, historic ramparts and a lively atmosphere all add to its irresistible charm.

Sunrise in the Tatacoa Desert: Experience an unforgettable sunrise in the Tatacoa Desert, when the first light fills the sky with warm colours and the unusual rock formations begin to glow. The stillness of the desert combined with the colours of dawn makes it feel almost otherworldly.

Excursion to San Agustín: Step into the mysteries of an ancient civilisation. The San Agustín archaeological park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, impresses with its enigmatic stone sculptures and remarkable pre-Columbian relics.

Ascent to Monserrate in Bogotá: Ride the cable car or follow the walking trail up to Monserrate and enjoy spectacular views across Colombia’s capital. A highlight not to be missed during your time in Bogotá.

The best times to visit

Colombia lies close to the Equator and therefore has a tropical climate. Instead of distinct seasons as in Europe, the weather is shaped largely by altitude.

Here is an overview of the main climate periods:

Dry Season (December–March, July–August):
This is considered the best time to visit Colombia. Temperatures are pleasant, and the weather in many regions – such as Bogotá, Medellín and the Caribbean coast – is generally dry.

Rainy Season (April–June, September–November):
During these months, rainfall is more frequent, especially in tropical areas. However, showers tend to be brief and fall in the afternoon, meaning there is still plenty of time for outdoor activities.

In our experience, the months from December to March, as well as July and August, are ideal for travelling in Colombia. During this period, most regions enjoy pleasant, dry weather – perfect for making the very most of your journey.
