Would you like to experience the ruins of Machu Picchu and the magnificent Andean landscape from a different perspective? Then we recommend climbing Wayna Picchu (2,693 m), the famous sugarloaf-shaped mountain that graces the backdrop of every postcard of the Inca site.
The ascent involves steep steps and ladders, which is why we only recommend this climb for sure-footed and experienced adventurers with a head for heights. Furthermore, the climb of approximately 260 meters in altitude requires good physical condition.
Depending on your fitness level, you will reach the summit of Wayna Picchu in about an hour and, from the top, can enjoy panoramic views not only of the entire Machu Picchu complex, but also of the surrounding green or snow-capped peaks. A view that makes all the effort of the climb worthwhile!
Note: As tickets for climbing Wayna Picchu are limited, we recommend booking in advance. Availability can only be confirmed after a binding booking request has been received and personal data (passport number, etc.) has been provided. Tickets are non-transferable and cannot be canceled or rebooked.

Mountain Huayna Picchu
How did you enjoy your visit to Machu Picchu? Are you eager for more? Then let's go!
You'll leave the Inca city via the circular route and re-enter the site, this time with the goal of Wayna Picchu (2,693 m). After passing the checkpoint, the adventurous climb begins. You'll ascend approximately 260 meters in altitude via more than 700 steps. Narrow staircases, steep ladders, and even a tunnel await you on the way up, but you'll never lose sight of your goal.
Finally, you'll reach the summit, which was supposedly once the seat of Machu Picchu's high priest. With the breathtaking view of the Inca city and the surrounding area, you won't be surprised. Sit down for a while and let the panorama sink in. What must it have been like here in Inca times? Besides numerous terraced fields, you can also find the Temple of the Moon.
After you've absorbed the impressions and taken plenty of photos, you'll begin your descent. This route follows the same path you came up. Shuttle buses wait in front of the Machu Picchu entrance to take you back to Aguas Calientes. And as you're gently rocked down the winding road into the valley, you'll be overcome with a feeling of happiness at having experienced the Wayna Picchu adventure!
