how it all started
It was the summer of 1999, André was studying business administration in tourism. Having learnt how to organise tours professionally he thought of giving it a shot in reality. As a passionate South America fan, the destination was clear. After 12 months of preparation, the tour finally started. With 15 students from various European countries he went to Ecuador in August 2000. The tour was a success and the idea of a Tour Operator - viventura was born.

We already knew how hard it was to get the first tour organised, but now we realised that it was even more difficult to get a website up. With a team of four people from three different countries we worked on the website for six months. Finally on the 1st of September 2001, viventura went online!

keeeping both feet on the ground
We knew we had a great tour, we knew we were innovative and we knew it would be difficult to be successful. But, we were overwhelmed by the success. By the end of 2002 we had 14 tours to Peru, 8 of which were sold out. In spite of the successful start, we wanted to expand slowly to other South American countries. We had good reasons. Firstly, we needed to focus on the quality of our tours and secondly, we needed to find the travel experts in those countries. It took us four years. But, by 2006 we had a network within all eight major South American destinations, a network that's still present today.

Having built this strong network of eight offices in South America the question was: what now? We always had a focus on quality, but could we keep the quality up by going across the South American border? We decided not to. We wanted to stick to our core knowledge: South America. That's why we decided to offer our destinations in more than one language. We installed the European Sales Office in Berlin. At the same time, we were looking for passionate South America fans for the different european countries to help us offer our valued tours in various languages.

where is viventura heading
We will stay focused on the quality, the innovation and the responsibility of our tours. With our Head Office in South America, eight exclusive Incoming Partner Offices throughout South America and a central European Sales Office in Berlin, our aim is to provide our service to most of the European market. At the same time we want to further increase our support to the viSozial foundation, in order to provide further help to social and environmental projects in South America.
